System evaluation for 48V hybrid vehicles

TESIS DYNAware's system simulation software DYNA4 Advanced Powertrain from has been specially expanded to accommodate the development of 48V hybrid vehicles and components. The latest version (DYNA4 2.7) now also includes preconfigured 48V models in addition to the previous spectrum of conventional, hybrid, and all-electric variants. The complete vehicle simulation software is based on Matlab/Simulink, thus enabling it to be flexibly expanded. For complex system configurations, DYNA4 2.7 provides support by offering automated analysis and presentation options. These include plots and Excel evaluations of the energy balances as well as an illustration of the energy flows in 3D animation. To evaluate the energy requirements in the vehicle, test bench driving cycles such as NEDC, FTP, and WLTP can be used immediately. As an alternative, the user's own reference driving cycles can be imported, driven, and visualized with 3D animation for the purpose of RDE analyses.

The right answer for many different questions

Even in the early stages of the development process, system simulation using DYNA4 Advanced Powertrain makes it possible to optimize the powertrain layout, onboard power system topology, and operating strategy. Studies of the power system stability and the dimensioning of electrical components can also be carried out. Other typical fields of application include range, performance, and energy consumption calculations. What is more, the combination with DYNA4 vehicle dynamics software also enables systematic analyses of functional safety to be performed, for example by error activation in electric operation, both on a PC and in HiL operation.

Modular environment for system simulation

The Model Repository in DYNA4 Advanced Powertrain contains various models for the powertrain and dual-voltage onboard power system as well as preconfigured operating strategies. The modular toolbox based on Matlab/Simulink can be used for adaptations or supplemented by the addition of the user's own simulation models. The range of functions is rounded off by variant, data, and results management with the aim of documenting the development process and making it transparent even if a large number of simulations are performed.
